In times of crisis like the one we are facing these days, many companies begin to act with caution, restricting activities, shortening budget, and even dismissing professionals. Then there are those with a differential that really add to the construction of a successful company. This differential is also explored at the time of a hiring, since increasingly we have a market with excess of professionals and little job offer: low demand and high supply.
The exchange is one of these differentials. The globalized world increasingly demands a professional who has more than fluency in another language, the ability to deal with different people and be empathetic with other cultures.
A few years ago, fluency in English was a sufficient point of differentiation in the curriculum. Today it is no more. For the most qualified positions, HR professionals and managers seek such “international experience”. This experience is not that shopping trip in Miami, or the skiing in Bariloche. We are talking about an intercultural exchange.
The experience in another country gives the professional the possibility of explore new habits and behaviors, demanding a flexibility of adaptation, which brings personal and professional growth.
This experience helps open the mind to new possibilities, exercises creativity, improves the power of communication and planning. The professional feels more autonomy and confidence when making decisions, increasing professional qualification and their knowledge.
And best of all: exchange is ageless. It is worth for adolescents, young people entering the labor market, analysts, managers, directors. At every stage of life, learning is important.
Planning a trip like this requires some time, one needs to have patience and be committed to their goals, but the effort is worth due to the good results. One tip is to research in exchange or tourism agencies, the best packages, promotions and benefits. Choosing a school or university abroad is essential to the success of such a program. A very cool and interesting way to search is to talk to friends or co-workers who have already done an exchange and ask for tips.
